Off the beaten track, a beachside restaurant overlooking the sea

~

On the windswept coast of Comporta, a restaurant emerges from the white sand dunes as if a mirage. Beneath blue skies and the warmth of summer breeze, step through the doors of Elemento Atlantico

Concept

Through our doors, a delicate balance of fine dining and seaside living, where renowned Brazilian chef Manu Buffara takes the helm. A seaside restaurant perched above sand dunes, celebrating of the intrinsic bond between Portugal and Brazil. A menu brought to life by the flavours of the Sétubal region and Portuguese influence, playfully reinterpreted through the nuance of a Brazilian lens. A place to spend the afternoon by the sea with friends, an escape for an evening beneath the gentle glow of the moon.

Menu

A menu underscored by tradition, a playful take on Portuguese flavour. Manu Buffara’s menu echoes her dedication to locally sourced ingredients looking to the abundant crops of Comporta and the wider Sétubal region. Dishes designed to be shared, where each one highlights the rich produce at our fingertips, including rice grown just outside Quinta da Comporta’s doors, and figs and almonds harvested from nearby trees. Her menu embraces plant-based fare whilst incorporating local cuttlefish, red mullet, sardines and Iberian Black Pork.

Design

A room drenched in dappled light reflecting off the crashing waves just beyond the windows. A space realised by renowned French designer Philippe Starck, now local to Comporta’s shores. His interpretation of a seaside hideaway comes to life through natural wood and whitewashed touches, found objects and antique books. Windows surrounding create a panorama of the beach, as if on a boat moored for a moment on a seaward journey, a pause beneath the Portuguese skies before heading back out on the open seas once again.
