Location

There are places that defy space and time. That continue to be an authentic reflection of its heritage and the landscape that surrounds them, coloured in by nature’s pallet and elevated by the essence of the people that live there. Comporta is one of those places. Situated on a coast of infinite white sand beaches, between acres of pine trees and lush green rice fields, the natural reserve of Comporta is the destination of choice for those who desire to disconnect and embrace the best of nature whilst living an authentic experience.

“Comporta holds a very dear place in my heart. It is part of my identity, heritage and family tradition. The very core of what defines Comporta – a place where families and friends reunite and come together to slow down and reconnect to what’s important in life – is what I envisioned for this project.”

Design & Nature

Miguel Câncio Martins designed Quinta da Comporta to be a place where authenticity and simplicity is considered a luxury that remains timeless.

From traditional architectural lines to all décor details, everything at Quinta da Comporta was thought of to be a genuine translation of the local way of living, and at the same time provide a deeper connection to the neighbouring natural reserve for a real journey inwards.

Inspired by the beauty of the surrounding environment, an open and connected to nature concept privileges every room and all outlets with breath taking views. The neutral palette of tones is set by the use of salvaged natural materials of the area, such as wood, wicker, glass and stone with décor motifs designed by local artisans that colour in each space with authenticity.

The result is a Design Concept that is inviting, integrates the community and is faithful to Comporta’s culture both in style and lifestyle without compromising the highest level of comfort and elegance.

Sustainability

Quinta da Comporta embraces the fundamental pillars of sustainability and its development project gravitates around the rehabilitation of pre-existing structures and materials throughout the property, privileging a low impact construction concept in all the Resort.

The use of over 600m2 of solar panels creates sustainable electricity and allows the natural heating of our 40m infinity pool and 20m Spa pool. The implementation of treatment processes allows the reutilization of residual waters in the gardens, the exclusive use of bikes and electrical buggies inside the resort cuts back on toxic exhausts and controlling the mosquitos with cutting edge methods preserves their ecosystem and Comporta’s natural beauty.

The eco conscience of the Resort prolongs itself into the use of locally sourced materials and artefacts that artisans continue to craft genuinely. “Bunho” and “vime”, rattan décor details, handcrafted wooden furniture, traditional ceramics and tableware from Caldas da Rainha city and other carefully chosen pieces are an integral part. This same concept extends to Quinta da Comporta’s Spa with rice as the main element for beauty and wellness treatments, and Restaurants with local products and seasonal dishes that are made with vegetables, fruits, edible flowers and herbs harvested in the Resort’s vegetable garden.
